How to share DRM protected iTunes M4P M4A M4B music with your Facebook friends?
Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet. And recently, I found Facebook offers an application called Twist me! to help Facebook fans share music with their friends. Below is the brief steps:
First, visit Facebook website and add the Twist me! Application to your profile.
Second, click Twist me! from the Applications list and click Next to import the music files from your local PC. Of course, you can also import videos and images. The supporting formats are various. Here I focus on music. You can add a maximum of 8 audio files here. What’s more, you can leave a message to your friends accompanying the music files.
Third, choose your friends to send the music files to.
It is very easy to share music files with your Facebook friends. However, we always have very classic music on our iTunes accounts and are willing to share them with our Facebook friends. Here comes the headache! The music files under the iTune account are DRM protected. So how to strip the DRM off the protected iTunes music files and output them as Facebook supported unprotected music files?
The program called TuneClone I talked about in my previous post How to convert iTunes M4P to MP3 with TuneClone can be the perfect solution. It can be used to batch convert DRM protected iTunes M4P to MP3. It uses a virtual CD burner for converting the music files. Compared with using real disc, it is much faster. Moreover, this cute program can keep the information about artist, title and album intact. It can even save the artworks of the album. It is a very good software for iTunes users who have hundreds of M4P files ready to be converted.

iPhone 3G Reviews
Source from: http://www.iphoneatlas.com/2008/07/09/iphone-3g-reviews-reviewed/
Three journalists have reviewed the iPhone 3G prior to its release on Friday. Rather than postulate a general consensus, we’ll present a series of salient data and points of insight gleaned from the newly published reviews.
David Pogue | The New York Times
- The new iPhone feels better in your hand due to the “gracefully curved” back.
- The 3G network “brings you Web pages in less than half the time.“
- Audio quality for calls takes a “gigantic leap forward” and is “crystal clear” on either end of the call — something that only a few other phones can claim.
- Apple claims that the GPS receiver’s antenna is too small to replicate turn-by-turn navigation of a standalone GPS unit.
- As with most GPS devices, downtown buildings can block reception.
- Battery replacement will still cost $86.
- The AppStore is “drop-dead simple,” “hundreds (of apps)” available at launch with “thousands” in the wings
- Gaming on the iPhone is “dazzling”
Walt Mossberg | The Wall Street Journal
- The new phone “mostly keeps its promises.”
- The iPhone 3G “is much, much faster at fetching data over cellphone networks” than the original iPhone.
- Email and Web access were typically “between three and five times as fast on AT&T’s 3G network.” “In Washington and New York [...] 3G speeds ranged between 200 and 500 kilobits per second compared to 70 and 150 kbps on EDGE.”
- The iPhone 3G frequently dropped calls in New York City while a “cheap Verizon phone” had “perfect reception.”
- While 3G was enabled, the iPhone 3G’s battery drained much more quickly than the original iPhone during a typical day of use.
- Audio is greatly improved for the iPhone 3G — the built-in speaker was louder for music and speakerphone conversations were better. There were some echoing issues while using the built-in Bluetooth system in a car.
- Setting up Exchange ActiveSync was quick and easy. Changes on the iPhone were instantly reflected in Microsoft Outlook. Push email was fast and instant.
- Exchange calendar sync will erase personal calendars and contacts in iPhone OS 2 software.
- Tested Apps: AOL Instant Messenger, AOL Radio, etc. on an original iPhone with OS 2.0 installed.
Edward Baig | USA Today
- “No equal among consumer-oriented smartphones.”
- Claims that it was a “relative cinch” to setup access to Exchange and works well.
- Mentions issues where even in New Jersey 3G coverage is not available or spotty.
- Popular Web sites take 10 to 30 seconds to load through 3G, which is a lot faster than on EDGE
- The iPhone 3G feels “perfectly comfortable” in the hand because of the plastic back.
- The plastic backing should improve reception versus the original’s aluminum backing.
- “Pretty impressed” by the GPS accuracy, but wants the phone to have voice turn-by-turn directions.
- Audio quality is better overall, particularly the speakerphone.
- Parental controls not only block access but remove icons from the home screen.
- Daily charging of the phone will be required if used regularly.
- Conclusion: an “enthusiastic thumbs up.”
How to convert DRM protected iTunes M4P music songs to MP3
The music files you purchased from iTunes store are under DRM protection. You cannot play them on your own mobile devices other than iPod and iPhone. You cannot directly convert the DRM protected M4P music to MP3 with iTunes, either. However, you can burn the protected music to CD-R or CD-RW disc to make an audio CD and then use some CD ripper software to convert the audio CD track back to MP3. iTunes allows you to burn the protected iTunes music to CD-R or CD-RW disc to make a standard audio CD:
1. Insert a CD-R or CD-RW disc into your CD-ROM drive. You’d better use CD-RW disc as it can be used for more than once.
2. Burn your playlist to make an audio CD. You cannot select the “MP3 CD” option since it requires the protected M4P music be converted to unprotected MP3 files.
3. After the audio CD is successfully burned, insert the disc into your CD-ROM drive again. Then you can use iTunes to import the music tracks on the burned disc to MP3 files.
The steps seem very simple, however, it is a time consuming process if you have a library of iTunes M4P files ready to be converted. Moreover, the music metadata information like title, artist and album will be lost after burning and ripping back to MP3 files.
TuneClone is the software you are looking for if you have a big collection of iTunes music to be converted. It automatically generates a virtual CD drive and simulates the burning and ripping process. All you need to do is install TuneClone and then burn your playlist to TuneClone’s virtual CD drive. TuneClone will directly convert the protected iTunes music playlist to MP3 for you. It is very fast and the information about artist, album and title will be well preserved.
